Fast casual restaurants that serve fried chicken, chicken fingers, and buffalo-style wings are a dime a dozen in the United States, but only a few of these establishments stand out. This was the thought going through the minds of life-long friends Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley when they founded Zaxby’s in 1990. The restaurant chain offers a wide variety of chicken sandwiches, wings, side dishes, salads, and sauces, but what makes this restaurant chain stand out is their take on the traditional chicken fingers dish.
Despite the fact that both of them were novices in the business world, their vision of what a chicken restaurant should look and feel like and what chicken dishes should taste like helped make their venture into the restaurant business a success. Since the first Zaxby’s opened in Statesboro, Georgia 22 years ago, the company has grown to 500 company-owned and franchised locations scattered around the USA’s southern states.
